Gradwell Park retirement village, based in South Chailey, is seeking a Housekeeper to work on a zero-hour contract. This is a Bank Position, covering sickness and holidays as needed.

As a Housekeeper at our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of residents\’ homes and communal areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Performing regular cleaning tasks in residents\’ apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
  2. Providing the highest standards of cleanliness and service.
  3. Keeping communal areas such as lounges, dining areas, and hallways clean and presentable.
  4. Fostering and maintaining good relationships with residents.
  5. Reporting any faulty or damaged equipment, laundry, or machinery to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  6. Undertaking the washing and ironing of bedding, table linen, towels, and garments, ensuring all instructions are followed.
  7. Upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the village.
  8. Using the correct cleaning products and equipment as instructed by the manufacturers.
  9. Ensuring a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  10. Complying with all legislative requirements and policies related to Health and Safety at Work.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in residential or hospitality settings.
  2. Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently and independently.
  3. Excellent communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanor.
  4. Sensitivity to the needs and preferences of older adults.
  5. Willingness to undergo background checks and relevant training.
