We are looking for an Estates Operative to join our team on a part-time basis at our stunning Gittisham Hill Park. This role will be supporting the Estate Supervisor to look after the beautiful grounds and assist with general maintenance around the village, which is made up of 32 residential properties. This position is for 16-18 hours per week over 3 days, to include Friday.
As an Estates Operative in our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents by maintaining and enhancing the physical environment of the community. Your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing residents' service requests, and assisting in various projects to create a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing living space.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areas
- Ensure proper functioning of lighting, elevators and emergency systems
- Address and resolve residents' maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
- Ensure outdoor furniture and amenities are clean and in good condition
- Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding maintenance schedules, disruptions, and planned activities.
- Ensure that all open areas of the grounds, including grassed areas, beds, woodlands, boundary fences, roadways, paths, and paved areas are properly maintained to a high standard
- Report immediately any defects or faults which may compromise the safety of residents
- Undertake regular inspections and monthly checks of the Village with the Facilities Manager
- Painting and decorating
- Responsible for treating roads and pathways with salt/grit when necessary during winter months
- Ensure the structure, fixtures, fittings, and equipment of the Village are properly maintained
- Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges
