We are seeking an Estates Operative (Maintenance) to join our friendly team at Charters Village. This is a hands-on role where you will help to maintain and enhance our buildings and outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, well-kept, and enjoyable for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the village (plumbing, carpentry, decorating, drainage, general repairs).
- Inspecting and maintaining fixtures, fittings, and equipment, promptly reporting and resolving issues.
- Testing and maintaining alarm systems, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
- Supporting with seasonal tasks such as clearing paths and gritting during winter.
- Conducting and recording weekly and monthly compliance checks.
- Providing out-of-hours emergency cover on a rota basis.
- Driving the village minibus to support residents with outings and appointments.
- Upholding health and safety standards, including COSHH compliance.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent resident service and support the wider team.
About You
- A trade skill in plumbing or carpentry (or extensive relevant maintenance experience).
- A D1 driving licence (or willingness to undertake training).
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with empathy and respect for residents.
- Physical stamina to meet the demands of the role.
- A commitment to team working, safety, and continuous improvement.
