The Business – Legal Recruitment Consultant

Founded in 2003, this firm has quickly grown to be the largest and most well-known legal recruitment firm in the world. They have offices in London, Asia, Europe, and the US, and have no plans to slow down their growth. They have specialist teams who focus on all areas of the legal market, from InHouse lawyers to Partners at Law Firms, meaning that you will have incredible exposure across the market. You will join the team under one of the most successful Associate Directors in the business, and have 1-1 mentorship throughout your career, getting you well on your way to seeing huge success in your own career.

The Benefits – Legal Recruitment Consultant

  • Base salary of £28k, which rises with each promotion (as well as regular salary reviews based on the economic climate)
  • As a resourcer you will receive 5% of any placed candidate fee as your commission (between £1k-£2k), and when you have been promoted you’re on to the full commission structure where you’ll earn up to 40% of each fee
  • First promotion within your first 12 months (realistic goals)
  • OTE in year one of £50k, year two £65k, year three £75k+
  • Direct mentorship from your manager and the Director, both of which are £500k+ billers
  • Regular incentives with your team - this year they are all going to Barcelona for a long weekend
  • Work from home on Mondays and Fridays
  • Later start times than other firms – most consultants are at their desk by 9:15am
  • Lots of business to work on from the get-go and no need for business development in your first year
  • Regular team outings, including Thursday pub trips, socials including Ascot, Wimbledon, and other London hotspots
  • 30 days holiday package + bank holidays

The Role – Legal Recruitment Consultant

  • Attending client briefings to fully understand their values and hiring requirements
  • Sourcing the best candidates for your clients; done through headhunting, networking, advertising, and using the company database
  • Managing the whole interview process, from shortlisting candidates to negotiating their contracts
  • Writing reports on candidate experiences, salary benchmarking, market analysis, and database management
  • Building up your online network through LinkedIn; done by creating your own brand and sharing relevant content for your network

The Ideal Candidate – Legal Recruitment Consultant

  • Degree educated with a 2:2 or above in any discipline (Law degrees are preferable)
  • Experience working in a client-facing role alongside or after education (part-time, internships, placement year, full-time work)
  • Understanding of the legal industry
  • Hard-working, with evidence of going above and beyond
  • Naturally competitive with the drive to be the best you can be
  • Financially motivated and looking to earn more than a basic salary
