I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Pharma and Supply Chain company for an NSX Engineer to join them on a contractual basis. For this role we are looking to engage with an Engineer with prior experience working with NSX T DFW, vCenter and ESXi and Troubleshooting of VMware technologies.
You will be joining the Virtual Infrastructure Engineering team on a large, complex migration programme of work - migrating assets from DC to DC. Essentially you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining, and optimising the VMware technologies by security policies and guidelines. You will design and implement NSX T firewall rules and troubleshoot application connectivity issues with NSX T firewall and VMware technologies. You will be working collaboratively with system users and other technical colleagues on firewall requirements so excellent communication skills are a must.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Design and implement NSX T firewall rules.
- Troubleshoot application connectivity issues with NSX T firewall.
- Collaborate with application teams on firewall requirements.
- Troubleshoot VMware technologies.
- Work with architecture teams on virtual firewall standards and methodology.
- Participate in workshops with other technical teams to provide guidance on the use of overlay network with DR.
- Participate in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups.
- Identify and communicate how IT infrastructure solutions can support the achievement of short- and long-range business goals.
- Work with analysts, architecture, and stakeholders to understand business needs.
- Lead the evaluation of technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to the infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements.
- Ensure completeness of technical requirements and functional architecture analysis for the design and implementation of system business solutions.
- Determine systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
- Explain to non-SMEs how the proposed solution will support their requirements.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions are aligned to the business strategy and direction.
- Direct efforts to demonstrate that information systems are compliant with appropriate corporate policies, industry standards, government regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Lead or provide technical direction for the planning, designing, and execution of testing efforts.
- Create a plan to evolve the system to reduce cost and improve system dynamics.
- Perform or coordinate Level 3/4 incident assessment and resolution on infrastructure solutions.
- Coordinate problem management and resolution among a variety of functional areas and provide subject matter expertise support for diagnosing and resolving problems.
- Provide guidance to other team members.
- Recommend procedures and controls for problem resolution or create temporary solutions until permanent solutions can be implemented.
- Work with auditors and security groups to ensure adherence to governance, regulations, and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Evaluate future technologies and make recommendations.
- Review vendor proposals for new infrastructure solutions.

6-month contract initially with a view to extend - fully remote - Inside IR35 so you’d need to work via an umbrella company. You will be working closely with the US team so work hours can be between 12:00 noon till 9:00pm UK time until July, then back to UK hours (Cutover weekends will be 2 weekends per month; it could be any 9-hour slot depending on the requirement).
