A Senior Health and Wellbeing Coach (SHWBC) will lead a team of Health and Wellbeing Coaches (HWBC) in the secure forensic inpatient wards at Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital. The role involves coordination, leadership, and supervision, ensuring high‑quality HWBC service delivery and supporting Ridgeway managers with quality assurance, cultural development and team activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate and supervise HWBCs to deliver low‑level therapeutic interventions and support the mental health of the secure hospital population.
- Provide coaching and motivational interviewing to enable recovery and self‑management for patients.
- Facilitate individual and group sessions, including psychoeducation, solution‑focused care, CBT‑informed approaches and peer support.
- Co‑facilitate group‑based workshops and activities, ensuring a flexible timetable that meets the needs of service users.
- Maintain clinical records, electronic data entry, and participate in audits to improve practice.
- Report incidents, near‑misses and risk management in line with Rethink and NHS policies.
- Prepare monthly reporting and provide evidence of service output to commissioners.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including NHS staff, to deliver a seamless, integrated care service.
- Develop engagement strategies to co‑produce services with people affected by mental illness.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of mental health presentations and experience supporting people 1:1 and in groups.
- Experience supervising or coordinating a team.
- Excellent communication, rapport‑building and group facilitation skills.
- Training or qualification in mental health coaching, motivational interviewing or recovery‑focused approaches.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Calm, proactive problem solving in challenging situations.
- Enhanced DBS with Adults Barred List and hospital security clearance.
- Commitment to safeguarding, data protection and safe working practices.
Person Specification
- In‑depth knowledge of mental health conditions.
- Experience in secure environments or with offenders (bonus).
