We are seeking a qualified and accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our integrated primary care mental health team at HMP Full Sutton. As a PWP, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, low-intensity cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, aligning with Step 2 IAPT guidelines.
Main duties of the job
- Conduct person-centred assessments, manage referrals, and support individuals in their self-management and recovery journeys.
- Deliver guided self-help in both 1:1 and group settings, drawing from CBT principles.
- Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams, attending meetings, and contributing to step-up and step-down arrangements.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintain high standards in clinical record-keeping and confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, upholding Rethink Mental Illness values.

Job responsibilities
I work as part of an integrated primary care mental health team within the Prison to provide high volume, low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions, for clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. This includes providing guided self-help in both 1:1 and group formats, in line with the current Step 2 IAPT guidelines.
Who I am?
- I have successfully completed academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g., Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies.
- I am an accredited PWP, either with BPS or BABCP.
- I have post-qualification experience in offering and delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions at Step 2.
- I have knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral, record-keeping, and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.
- I am a confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
General Duties:
- To work within the Prison Service policies and procedures and to support the relevant programmes being run and contribute to the management of risk and public protection.
- This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure and Home Office Prison Clearance.
- Act in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
