Rethink Mental Illness are hiring BANK Mental Health Support Workers to join our inspiring and friendly team at Topping Mill, Bury. Imagine being part of an organisation whose common purpose is to help those who are severely impacted by mental illness. We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity – and that’s why equity is one of our core values.
Our Topping Mill Service provides stable transition accommodation and support, to people over the age of 18, for up to five years. Our supported living accommodation provides person-centred support, based on their recovery journey. This will enable users to move onto housing within the community. Topping Mill consists of 14 self-contained flats, along with a shared lounge on both the ground and first floor.
Overview of a Mental Health Support Worker role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will offer people affected by mental illness the support and help they need to regain their confidence and get involved in everyday social and workplace activities. You will be working closely with service users to achieve their own personal goals and access all the support they need on their recovery journey.
Essential Skills and Experience Required
- You may have experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Transferable Life / Work Experience: You bring valuable experiences from your personal or professional life that can be applied to this role.
- Listening and Empathy: You are a good listener, empathetic, understanding, kind, patient, and willing to learn.
