Moss View SEMH Primary School is a small, specialist primary setting supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a nurturing, structured and relationship-based environment where pupils are supported to develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships alongside their education.
This is a varied and rewarding role working closely with primary‑aged children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including SEMH needs. The successful candidate must feel confident supporting and leading small groups of pupils both within school and during off‑site activities.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging sports, PE and swimming sessions, helping pupils develop teamwork, self‑esteem and emotional regulation through physical activity. A key aspect of the role involves leading off‑site sessions with groups of up to 8 primary‑aged pupils. All groups are supported by a staffing ratio of 3 adults per class group, consisting of yourself and two additional key workers, to maintain a safe, supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and organise sports and PE sessions for groups of up to 8 pupils
- Confidently lead off‑site PE, sports and swimming activities alongside two supporting staff members
- Support and supervise swimming sessions at local leisure facilities
- Organise sporting events, enrichment activities and whole‑school fitness opportunities
- Provide classroom support during mornings and throughout the school day where required
- Cover lessons during teacher absence when appropriate
- Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, resilience and confidence through sport and physical activity
- Support pupils with additional emotional, behavioural and communication needs in a calm and consistent manner
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Experience working with primary‑aged children
- Confidence leading groups of children in off‑site environments
- Experience delivering sports, PE or physical activity sessions
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience supporting children with SEN and/or SEMH needs
