An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a long-established British manufacturer in a Junior or Graduate role - depending on experience or qualification.
The position would suit either:
- A Graduate Engineer looking to begin a career within manufacturing design and/or product development, or
- A Production or Design Engineer with some existing CAD/Design experience in AutoCAD or a similar package, looking to further develop their technical and project engineering skills within a supportive environment.
You will work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, compliance teams and commercial stakeholders to develop innovative, practical and manufacturable products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings for new and existing products
- Develop prototypes using 3D printing and other product development techniques
- Support products throughout the full development lifecycle
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings and engineering data within the ERP system
- Work with internal departments to ensure smooth product introduction
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product enhancement initiatives
- Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
- Work with suppliers and specialist subcontractors where required
- Assist the commercial teams with technical product information and specifications
- Assist with product testing, validation and certification activities
- Contribute to value engineering and cost reduction projects while maintaining quality standards
Skills & Experience Required:
- A degree or relevant vocational qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD)
- A solid understanding of material properties
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, CNC machining)
- Ability to present design concepts and solutions to non-technical personnel or customers
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing for prototyping would be very beneficial
- Knowledge of ERP systems or BOM management would also be an advantage
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively within a small, dynamic production team
- Interest in product development, manufacturing and engineering design

Working Hours:
Flexible working arrangement with core hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:30am – 4:30pm, Friday: 9:00am – 1:00pm. Earlier start and finish times available subject to business requirements.
This position could be commutable from Woking, Guildford, Camberley, Sheerwater, Farnborough, Aldershot, Bracknell, Reading and surrounding areas. Applicants living outside of these areas need to be prepared to consider relocation, as the commute needs to be sustainable long-term.
