An established precision manufacturing business in Gloucestershire is seeking an accomplished CNC Turning professional to join its machining function. This opportunity would suit an engineer who is confident taking ownership of programs from first-off through to production, and who enjoys working with modern multi-axis turning and mill / turn equipment.
Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will be responsible for producing complex, high-accuracy components to demanding tolerances, while maintaining quality, efficiency, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities- Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs directly at the machine
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mill / turn centres with multi-axis capability
- Work confidently with Fanuc and / or Mazatrol control systems
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and route cards
- Select tooling, set offsets, and establish appropriate cutting parameters
- Prove new and repeat jobs, resolving issues during first-off production
- Maintain high standards of dimensional accuracy and surface finish
- Carry out in-process inspection using manual measurement equipment
- Strong background in CNC programming, setting, and operating (turning-focused)
- Experience with Doosan or equivalent CNC turning platforms
- Competence working across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machinery
- Proven ability to machine to close tolerances
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
- Familiarity with CMM inspection techniques (advantageous, not essential)
- Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or similar) preferred
You will be assigned to one of the following fixed shift patterns:
- Early Shift: Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 14:00
- Day Shift: Monday to Thursday, 07:30 – 16:00, Friday 07:00 – 13:00
- Employer pension contribution of 5%
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
