A small, rapidly growing entrance automation specialist is recruiting an experienced Automatic Door Engineer to join its team. Working across commercial buildings and managed properties, you’ll combine hands-on fault finding with maintenance, installation and commissioning. This is an opportunity to broaden your expertise in pedestrian entrance systems and take on greater responsibility as the business develops.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Servicing and repairing automatic sliding and swing doors, speed lanes and pedestrian entrance control equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and control faults involving operators, drive systems, sensors and control boards.
  • Installing replacement components, setting operating parameters and commissioning equipment.
  • Checking activation and presence sensors, protective devices and emergency opening functions.
  • Investigating access control interface faults, including entry permissions and release signals.
  • Completing safety inspections and risk assessments, identifying defects and recommending remedial work.
  • Recording work accurately using a company tablet and explaining findings clearly to customers.

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience servicing, repairing or installing automatic pedestrian doors.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, including reading wiring diagrams.
  • Recognised BS EN 16005 training/accreditation through ADSA, ADIA or an equivalent provider.
  • An understanding of pedestrian door safety and risk assessment.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
  • A practical, reliable approach and confidence working independently on customer sites.

Useful additional experience and qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with speed lanes, speed gates or turnstiles.
  • BS EN 17352 training or working knowledge relating to powered pedestrian entrance control equipment.
  • Relevant NVQ Level 2, electrical or electromechanical qualification.
  • Appropriate CSCS/ECS card, IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • Manufacturer training on automatic door or entrance control systems.
