We are recruiting for a MIG Welder to join our workshop team in Aston, Birmingham. This is a hands-on role focused primarily on MIG welding and light fabrication of mild steel components, with additional workshop and general operative duties as required.
If you are experienced in MIG welding who prefers varied work rather than repetitive production welding, this role offers stability and variety.
Main Duties:- MIG welding mild steel components
- Light fabrication and modification work
- Cutting, grinding and preparing materials
- Reading basic drawings or working from measurements
- Standard inspections of production quality including welds etc.
- Assisting with loading and unloading materials
- Preparing finished items for dispatch including packing
- Organising and controlling stock coming into, going out and held within the workshop
- Occasional deliveries/collections using company vehicle
- General workshop and site maintenance tasks
- Previous MIG welding experience
- Experience working with light-gauge mild steel
- Ability to fabricate and carry out repairs independently
- Full UK driving licence (minor points accepted)
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Reliable and able to work without constant supervision
- Experience in a production / workshop environment
- Experience with roller shutters, windows or doors etc.
- Warehouse or trade background
