A well-respected manufacturing business (c.£4m turnover, ~30 employees) based in Tamworth, are currently looking for an experienced and capable, hands-on Supply Chain & Production Planner to take ownership of day-to-day production planning, purchasing, and delivery coordination. This is a pivotal role at the centre of operations translating customer demand into achievable production plans, ensuring materials are in place, and keeping orders moving through the business on time. You will work closely with suppliers, sales, stores and production teams, balancing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Review customer orders and forecasts to build realistic production and purchasing plans
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules aligned to capacity and materials
  • Coordinate procurement of raw materials and external services
  • Actively manage suppliers - chasing deliveries, resolving shortages, and mitigating risk
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply terms to support cost control
  • Monitor shop-floor progress and adjust plans in response to delays or urgent orders
  • Carry out capacity and resource analysis, communicating constraints clearly to the business
  • Oversee dispatch and logistics to ensure strong on-time delivery performance (OTIF)
  • Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, stock records, and traceability documentation

Candidate Requirements include:

  • Proven experience in a production planning, materials planning, or a planner/buyer role within an SME manufacturing environment or similar is essential
  • Strong understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and supply chain flow
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SAP is desirable)
  • Confident Excel user, comfortable working with data and forecasts
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and changing demands
  • Practical and proactive - comfortable engaging directly with the shop floor
  • Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally
  • Detail-focused with a continuous improvement mindset
