RKW Ltd is now looking to appoint an HR Business Partner to take on a key role located at our Head Office site in Stoke on Trent. The appointee will assume a range of duties and we are looking for a Generalist with people management experience to take on the position. Suitable applicants will have a demonstrable track record of genuine Business Partnering – working closely with managers on a varied ER caseload. We also need someone with experience of strategic project work, potentially including:

  • Organisational Design / Development
  • Staff Engagement, Progression & Retention
  • Policy & Procedure evaluation, to futureproof against legislation changes

The role will report into the HR Director, manage existing HR Advisors and work closely with peer-level managers in Payroll & Recruitment.

Responsibilities and Duties

This role plays a crucial part in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing expert guidance on employee relations, talent management, workforce planning, organisational change and employee experience. You will develop and implement HR initiatives to enhance employee engagement, performance and overall organisational success.

Specific Areas of Accountability

  • Develop strong relationships with managers and the leadership team to understand business priorities, providing strategic HR advice and coaching to support decision-making
  • Manage employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, capability and absence cases
  • Lead organisational change initiatives including restructures and transformations, providing guidance and support to managers throughout
  • Support workforce planning activities including succession planning and talent reviews, identifying skills gaps and recommending development solutions where appropriate
  • Coach managers through performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews and performance improvement plans
  • Lead on the development, implementation and review of initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, retention and job satisfaction
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in HR processes and be a key influencer in driving change
  • Lead reviews and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with changing laws and regulations
  • Proactively undertake HR projects to continuously improve ways of working and enhance employee experience
  • Coach, mentor and guide the HR Advisor team including managing their day-to-day workload
  • Plus any other ad-hoc requests as directed by the HR Director

Skills and Desirables

  • Proven experience in an HR Business Partner or equivalent role
  • CIPD qualification (Minimum L5) or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing employee relations cases independently
  • A customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on providing a positive employee experience
  • Demonstrated success supporting organisational change and talent management initiatives
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data and metrics
