As Financial Controller, you will effectively manage all finance activities at The Reserve as well as contributing to the overall success and performance of the hotel through the provision of effective financial information to all the key stakeholders. In addition, you will contribute to process improvements in conjunction with the Chester Zoo Finance Team. Primary responsibilities include preparation and analysis of the financial reports and reconciliations, internal and external reporting, budgeting/forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital and cash control.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and deliver timely, high quality financial and management information to hotel leadership and Chester Zoo's Finance Team.
- Lead P&L reviews, providing insight, analysis and recommendations to support operational and financial performance.
- Oversee budgeting for The Reserve, collaborating with Chester Zoo's Head of Finance and ensuring alignment with group processes.
- Manage stock control, purchasing levels and cost efficiencies to minimise wastage and support profitability.
- Ensure robust financial controls, compliant accounting practices and effective audit processes across the hotel.
- Produce accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts and returns, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Develop and improve accounting systems and processes in partnership with Chester Zoo's Finance, Systems and Transformation teams.
- Support intercompany income flows and internal processes that strengthen business development.
- Provide analytical support for budgeting, forecasting and cost saving initiatives.
- Manage hotel expenditure through strong purchase ordering controls and oversee client credit facilities to ensure compliance with limits and payment terms.
- Work closely with other departments, offering financial guidance and maintaining strong relationships across The Reserve and Chester Zoo.
- Ensure statutory compliance, adherence to company policies, and completion of required training.
- Carry out Head of Department responsibilities as assigned, maintaining high standards of operational control, asset safeguarding, and risk management.
