Merchandising Analyst (Fixed Term Contract)

4-5 Month Fixed Term Contract 2 Days Office / 3 Days Home
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Merchandising Analyst to join a well-established retail business on a fixed-term basis, supporting a major systems implementation project.
This role is ideal for someone who has progressed from a Senior Assistant Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser background and moved into a dedicated analytical position, using data to influence commercial decision-making across a retail environment.
The Role
Working closely with merchandising, trading and leadership teams, you'll be responsible for analysing large volumes of data and transforming insights into clear commercial recommendations that improve sales, margin, stock productivity and customer growth.
Key areas of analysis will include:
- Product performance
- Pricing effectiveness
- Promotional activity
- Inventory productivity
- Customer behaviour and purchasing trends
- Store space productivity
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a commercially minded analyst with experience gained within a retail or B&M environment who can confidently interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
You'll have a proven track record of influencing trading decisions through analysis and insight, with examples of how your work has driven measurable business improvements.
Technical Skills
Essential:
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Power Query
- Strong analytical and reporting capability
- Experience presenting insights to stakeholders
- Power BI experience
Desirable:
- Tableau
- SQL
- Python or a similar analytical coding language
