The General Ledger Accountant performs a variety of routine and non‑routine accounting functions with significant focus on General Ledger accounting. This position is also responsible for supporting the Financial Accounting Manager in conducting key activities such as month‑end and quarter‑end close, Fixed Assets, Account Reconciliations and Audits. You will be recording and processing a vast range of financial transactions. A General Ledger Accountant is essential for financial reporting, and requires liaison with various departments and individuals across the DO & CO family.

To build and maintain excellent working relationships with other departments, ensuring the provision of a positive and professional service:

  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all DO & CO family members as well as partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Financial Accounting Manager with daily tasks as required.
  • Conduct accurate record keeping for audit trail and reporting purposes and feed into month‑end closure activities.
  • Maintain and update the fixed assets database and intercompany recharge management.
  • Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns in compliance with regional and international requirements.
  • Monitor VAT transactions and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Conduct internal audit to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
  • Manage and oversee financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Perform reconciliations and analysis of accounts to ensure data integrity.
  • Support the team with ad‑hoc requests as and when needed.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or Mathematics or relevant experience in a Financial Administrator/Assistant role.
  • Ready to roll up your sleeves and do what is needed to give our partners the best service with a problem‑solving mentality.
  • Motivation to deliver exceptional service.
  • Well‑presented, professional individual with a can‑do, positive attitude that encourages team success.

  • Experience in dealing with customs would be an advantage.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precise record‑keeping skills.

  • Clear and engaging communication, strong written and verbal English, and use a variety of methods to keep the DO & CO Family and stakeholders well informed.
  • Flexible thinking, efficient decision making, and handling change to ensure everything is right for our partners and the DO & CO family.
  • Highly proficient in Excel with excellent working knowledge of accounting software packages and ability to handle and integrate data sources, both manual and electronic.
  • Good working knowledge of UK tax, auditing, and commercial regulatory rules.
