Who are RECCo? We are an independent, non-profit organisation responsible for the Retail Energy Code — a key part of how the GB retail energy market is regulated. But we don’t just manage rules. We look ahead, not just react, helping the market change in the right way. We deliver secure digital services, clear governance, and practical solutions that protect consumers, support innovation, and help the energy system move towards net zero.

What you’ll be doing: As data and digitalisation becomes increasingly important in the running of the energy industry, we need an IT professional who can complement our emerging internal technical capability to support delivery of the RECCo digitalisation strategy. The role will help drive forward projects and initiatives to positively improve the RECCo functions and services. This is an opportunity to enhance skills on the job through real-life execution of projects and support of colleagues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Identify and define technical project requirements and standards alongside colleagues and across industry, ensuring alignment to RECCo architectural principles.
  • Provide architectural oversight of project delivery, ensuring solutions are aligned to agreed designs, standards, and non-functional requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple service providers across multi-party teams to foster partnership, ensuring alignment to agreed architectural designs and standards.
  • Support technical partner procurement, onboarding, and provide architectural input into the assurance of solution delivery.
  • Develop and deploy Proof-of-Concept applications.
  • Translate user journeys and business requirements into clear, scalable technical solution designs.
  • Support the design and deployment of cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security are considered.
  • Collaboratively develop frameworks, processes and tools that support a risk-based approach within RECCo and our partners, with a focus on technical assurance.
  • Work with the Enterprise Architect to realise RECCo’s strategy through delivery of a secure, open and scalable architecture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures as part of our continuous improvement approach.
  • Create and maintain technical architecture and design documentation for internal systems and external projects, ensuring traceability to requirements.
  • Supporting governance design where tech dependencies exist.
  • Challenge and support partners to fairly assess the technology in use and proposed for future use.
