Location: Remote, with occasional travel to London for events and team activities.

The Retail Energy Code Company (RECCo) is responsible for managing and evolving the Retail Energy Code (REC), which governs the interactions of parties involved in the Great Britain retail energy market. Our mission is to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the market, promoting innovation, competition, and delivering positive outcomes for consumers. We manage a range of critical services, all aimed at driving operational efficiencies and delivering value to the industry and consumers alike.

RECCo supports a broad set of stakeholders, including energy suppliers, network operators, and metering service providers, facilitating the effective delivery of their obligations under the REC. This makes RECCo a vital player in shaping the future of the energy market.

As data and digitalisation become increasingly important in the running of the energy industry, we are looking for a talented developer with ambitions to become a solution or technical architect, to complement our internal technical capability and support delivery of the RECCo digitalisation strategy.

This role is ideal for someone who is technically skilled, eager to grow, and looking to develop their architectural thinking on real-world projects.

  • Identify technical project requirements alongside colleagues and across industry.
  • Assist in the development of frameworks, processes and tools that support a risk-based approach.
  • Work alongside the Enterprise Architect to help deliver RECCo’s strategy through secure, scalable solutions.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and R&D in the digital space.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Solid hands-on experience in software development or systems engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of software or systems architecture concepts.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments.
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or JavaScript.
  • Basic understanding or interest in cyber security.
  • Certifications or training in architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) would be a plus.
