Role Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior Retail Analyst (or economist) to join our expert team. This full-time, hybrid role offers a balance between office-based collaboration (c. 2/3 days per week) and remote flexibility, with our primary office located in Central London, near Charing Cross.
As a Senior Retail Analyst at Retail Economics, you will play a pivotal role in delivering actionable insights that influence strategic decisions for some of the world’s leading retail and consumer-facing brands. You will dive deep into retail data, analyse key market trends, and support clients with clear, concise reports and recommendations that address their unique challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape industry outcomes.
The role requires the candidate to use a blend of data analysis, report writing and story-telling to reveal unique insights on areas of consumer research. Examples could include the impact of social media, attitudes towards sustainability, or the cost of living crisis.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects, delivering against tight deadlines, in a high-pressure environment.
- Analyse retail market data to identify trends, performance drivers, and consumer behaviour patterns.
- Produce unique insights tailored to client objectives.
- Contribute to the production of thought leadership pieces, market reports, social content and presentations.
- Use AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, NotebookLM, Synthsia and others to automate, enhance and scale output.
- Support client meetings by presenting findings and responding to bespoke data requests.
- Client-facing role that requires presenting key project highlights to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication abilities, with the confidence to present insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of retail industry trends and sales performance drivers.
- Proficiency in working with large datasets and conducting detailed analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Master’s degree) in Economics, or a related field.
- Experience using data visualisation tools (such as Power BI or Tableau) is highly desirable.
- Experience using AI tools and advanced prompt engineering skills is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
