We are looking for an experienced Surveyor to join our ever-growing business, working across various clients work streams in different sectors from retail to hospitality, hospitals, schools, airports and many more. You must be a highly organised individual, with great communication skills, who is flexible to go out weekly travelling around the UK and Europe picking up various levels of survey detail based on our client's needs and varying briefs. You must be a confident individual and have experience working solo as well as working as part of a team to capture quality and credible data to allow our in-house team to draw accurate as-builts.
You will have an experienced background working with laser scanners and be prepared to do full building measured surveys of retail units, hospitals, distribution centres and much more.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supporting with organising various surveys across the country to be cost effective with travel and in line with quotation to clients, to suit their requirements and deadlines.
- Travelling across the UK and Europe conducting measured building surveys using terrestrial laser scanning equipment in various locations such as supermarkets, distribution centres, hospitals, schools, restaurants and more.
- Being professional in your mannerisms and representing RDS while out on the road, having great communication skills to the team back in the office with any potential issues and bringing credible data back for the team and yourself to draw up from.
- Making sure you manage the surveys you are allocated from initial handover brief to then handing it back over to the internal team with all the relevant information they need to create accurate drawings.
- The successful candidate will manage projects from site survey through to final deliverables, including planning site visits, capturing data, processing point clouds, and producing accurate drawings/models.
Team:
- Liaise with key internal management, Account Managers and Lead to ensure effective client service is maintained.
- Integrate into the wider team and be a team player.
Skillset/requirements:
- Experience using terrestrial laser scanning equipment and undertaking measured building surveys.
- Proficient using relevant point cloud processing software (e.g. Cyclone register, ReCap).
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Able to organise your time efficiently as a week can consist of multiple clients’ jobs around the UK and occasionally Europe.
- Have great communication skills.
- A fully clean driving license.
- Must have a passport to allow travel to various locations when required.
- Be flexible to stay away for the majority of the working week.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit.
- Experience drawing/modelling from point cloud data.

Location and Hours:
- Earls Colne, Essex - office based for 3 days a week, so must be within travelling distance.
- Typical hours: Monday- Thursday 8.30-5pm, Friday 8.30-4.30pm (39.5hrs a week).
- Due to the nature of site-based work, occasional early starts, later finishes, or adjusted working days may be required to meet project and client needs.
