Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation, ensuring they are legal, constitutional and in line with accepted accounting practice.
- Maintain proper records, effective financial procedures and internal controls.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Produce necessary financial reports, accounts and audits.
- Inform fellow board members of their financial obligations and interpret financial data for them.
- Present the financial position at board meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance, etc.).
- Develop an annual budget and propose its adoption at the end of the financial year.
- Appraise the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead the appointment and liaison with auditors or an independent examiner.
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge and experience of current finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
