Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation, ensuring they are legal, constitutional and in line with accepted accounting practice.
  • Maintain proper records, effective financial procedures and internal controls.
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
  • Produce necessary financial reports, accounts and audits.
  • Inform fellow board members of their financial obligations and interpret financial data for them.
  • Present the financial position at board meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance, etc.).
  • Develop an annual budget and propose its adoption at the end of the financial year.
  • Appraise the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
  • Lead the appointment and liaison with auditors or an independent examiner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of current finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
