About the Client
We are recruiting on behalf of a newly established startup seeking an experienced accountant to support with VAT, Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance, and general accounting as they grow. This is not a full-time role — they are looking for someone they can call on when needed for expert advice, VAT submissions, and compliance support.
Key Responsibilities
- VAT registration and setup
- VAT return preparation and submission
- Ensuring compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
- Use of MTD-compatible or bridging software for submissions
- Providing ad hoc VAT and accounting advice
- Supporting with occasional bookkeeping or reporting (if applicable)
Requirements
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (or equivalent experience)
- Strong VAT experience (essential)
- Experience with MTD and/or bridging software (essential)
- Experience supporting startups or small businesses preferred
- Familiar with relevant accounting software (please specify)
- Reliable, responsive, and able to work flexibly when required
