Role: Class 1 Driver - Secure Collection & Manual Handling

Location: Trafford Park, Manchester, M17 1EH

Salary: £36,300.11 plus £50 a week to drive Class 1

Hours a week: 45 hours

Days of work: Monday to Friday (No Night Shifts)

Contract type: Permanent

This isn’t your typical driving role. As a Class 1 Driver - Secure Collections Operative, you’ll combine professional driving with hands-on, physical work as part of our secure collections team. You’ll be visiting client sites, collecting confidential documents, and ensuring their safe and secure transport for destruction. This role involves regular manual handling and lifting, so it’s well suited to someone who enjoys being active and takes pride in doing a job that keeps them moving throughout the day.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Handle and move heavy sacks of paper, emptying them into secure containers and transporting them to the vehicle
  • Collect and transport a variety of waste streams, including confidential paper, IT equipment, WEEE, DMR and other secure materials
  • Work across small & large customer sites, transporting paper waste between collection points, which may involve extended periods on your feet, long corridors, and stairs
  • Represent Restore Datashred in a professional manner, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks, completing defect sheets and reporting any issues promptly
  • Ensure all equipment required for the day’s duties is loaded and secured before leaving the depot
  • Review job sheets and plan your route effectively
  • Use the PDA to record daily collection activities and customer information
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed for each job and securely hand in copies at the end of each shift
  • Keep all materials safe and secure during loading, transport, and delivery

About you:

  • Hold a full UK Class 2 driving licence
  • Confident with manual handling and physically demanding work
  • Good understanding of tachograph use and the Working Time Directive, ensuring compliance with all driving and working hour regulations
  • Professional and customer-focused, with strong communication skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Reliable, organised, and proactive in getting the job done safely and efficiently
