As Head of Fleet at Restore Datashred, you will take full ownership of our national fleet operation, ensuring it remains safe, compliant, cost-effective, and operationally efficient. Supporting a network of depots across the UK, you will play a pivotal role in enabling service delivery while shaping the long‑term fleet strategy. Restore Datashred is the UK’s leading secure data destruction provider, helping organisations protect sensitive information while supporting sustainability through responsible recycling. This role is critical to maintaining our high standards of compliance, operational excellence and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the fleet strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Produce and manage a rolling fleet replacement programme
  • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence requirements across all sites
  • Maintain audit readiness and lead DVSA audits or investigations
  • Oversee driver compliance, including tachographs, CPC and licence checks
  • Monitor fleet performance and provide reporting to senior leadership
  • Maximise vehicle availability and minimise downtime
  • Manage vehicle maintenance in line with legal and manufacturer standards
  • Control fleet budgets and deliver cost‑saving initiatives
  • Monitor and manage fuel, leasing, maintenance and insurance costs
  • Lead fleet sustainability initiatives including alternative fuels (e.g. HVO)
  • Manage key supplier relationships and negotiate commercial agreements
  • Lead key fleet projects including telematics, systems and new vehicle specs
  • Support depot teams to improve operational efficiency and productivity

About You

  • Transport Manager CPC
  • Proven experience managing a large, multi‑site fleet operation
  • Strong knowledge of Operator Licence compliance and transport regulations
  • Experience managing transport audits, maintenance and driver compliance
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets
  • Experience using fleet systems, telematics or transport software
  • Excellent analytical, reporting and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capability
  • Ability to drive operational improvements and lead change
