JOB SUMMARY
Shelbourne Specialist Care Centre are seeking dedicated and compassionate Care Assistants (day shifts) to join their team! To deliver high standards of personal care, contributing fully to the care team to ensure continuity of services to residents. To look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of the residents using a person-centred approach. To observe and promote the residents' choice, independence, dignity, privacy and fulfilment of other rights. To create and maintain good professional relationships with residents and family. To support other Care workers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Provides support and encouragement to residents in all areas/activities of daily living.
- Ensures the respect, dignity and rights to privacy of residents as far as possible.
- Contributes to the assessment of residents' needs and the development of individualised plans of care and support, in consultation with residents, their relatives and the Care Team.
- Acts as a key worker for an identified resident or designated group.
- Works with the care and support team to deliver high standards of service to achieve planned goals.
- To prepare food and drink for the residents, being aware of the residents' choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.
- To use moving and handling equipment safely and correctly.
- To maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships with residents.
- To maintain detailed, accurate records in respect of care.
GENERAL
- To dress appropriately, wearing correct uniform.
- To attend and participate in regular team meetings.
- To attend in-house and external training as and when required.
These duties are not exhaustive. Job holders may be asked to undertake other responsibilities within their spheres of responsibility and competence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum NVQ level 2 or equivalent care qualification or willing to work towards.
- 6 months experience in care/support or service related setting essential.
