We're looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover.
HR Advisor
About the Role
This is a busy, hands-on role supporting managers across a large operational workforce, with a strong focus on employee relations.
You'll manage a varied caseload of disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and other employee relations matters, providing practical, commercially focused advice to support fair and consistent decision-making.
You'll work closely with fellow HR Advisors and stakeholders across the business, helping ensure cases are managed effectively and in line with employment legislation, company policy and best practice.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Managing a high-volume employee relations caseload from initial advice through to case conclusion.
- Advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management processes.
- Supporting managers through investigations, hearings and appeals.
- Managing long-term sickness absence cases, including occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
- Providing clear, pragmatic and risk-based HR advice.
- Producing high-quality case documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensuring a consistent approach to employee relations issues across the business.
- Supporting colleagues within the HR team by sharing knowledge and best practice where required.
- Building strong relationships with managers and key stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with a strong employee relations background who is confident managing cases independently and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Significant experience managing employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance and absence management matters.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting managers through formal HR processes and hearings.
- Ability to manage a demanding and varied caseload effectively.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to balance commercial needs with employee experience and risk management.
Desirable
- Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within a shared service, contact centre or high-volume operational environment.
- Experience handling long-term sickness absence and complex absence management cases.
- Previous experience providing guidance or informal support to other HR colleagues.
