Role Purpose
Responsible Finance is the membership association for the UK's Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs). CDFIs are community lenders, committed to delivering positive social impact, and offer fair and affordable finance to businesses, social enterprises and to people unable to access it elsewhere. This role supports a Capacity Building programme for business-lending CDFIs and the wider member base. You will assist Programme Managers to deliver key projects within the Capacity Building programme and support the team to deliver outstanding service to CDFIs across personal, micro, business and social enterprise lending sectors. Some stakeholder interaction and high versatility are required. No prior knowledge about CDFIs is required if you have a keen interest to learn and a passion for increasing access to fair finance.
Purpose of the Role
The Project Support Officer will assist in the delivery of key projects and support the Programme Director and Programme Managers in ensuring the smooth running of a Programme Management Office (PMO) at Responsible Finance. You will help ensure timely and quality delivery of projects and programmes, produce timely information and reports, and support the smooth running of programme meetings and boards. You will also provide high-quality administrative support to the wider team and onboarding support for new CDFIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support communications activity, including content for the member newsletter, events, and website updates.
- Assist on a bank referral pilot project, monitoring referrals and data entry with accuracy and timeliness.
- Contribute to delivery of work streams and grant monitoring to support capacity building.
- Support Programme Managers to monitor progress and maintain project documentation (plans, risk and issues registers).
- Facilitate project and programme meetings, including scheduling, documentation, and minute-taking.
- Assist with CRM data management and data analysis for impact reporting.
- Support the Programme Director and Programme Manager with reports for grant funders and Responsible Finance boards.
This is a varied role involving collaboration with members and external stakeholders. The job description is not exhaustive and may change in consultation with the post holder.

- Strong and proven experience as a project support officer/co-ordinator supporting multiple projects.
- Experience generating and updating online content using tools such as WordPress, Canva, SurveyMonkey to develop web and social content.
- Strong administrative skills with Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams) and quick to learn new tools.
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to synthesise information clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders efficiently.
- Additional desirable skills include familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, ClickUp), event delivery, presentations, Canva graphics, monitoring and evaluation, and an understanding of CDFIs and/or lending.
