In this role, you'll work in a cross-functional agile squad, driving the quality strategy in the department and across the wider business. As it is a hands-on role, it will require you to perform exploratory testing on our product and develop automated tests to ensure quality remains high.

You will play a proactive role in the development lifecycle, from inception through scoping and build to delivery and post-deployment analysis. As part of this, you will contribute to our increasing speed of delivery without compromising our focus on quality. You will drive adoption and improvement of best practice in the department to ensure quality, scalability and performance are at the heart of the development process.

Your line manager will be the Head of Development, but you will also be supported and mentored by a Tech Lead for the scrum team.

What will I be doing?

  • Performing exploratory testing on new features
  • Contributing a critical eye to product feature designs and technical documentation to drive out assumptions and risks early in the lifecycle
  • Creating and updating automated tests to ensure that the quality of our products remains high and any issues are caught early
  • Developing, documenting and communicating the test strategy
  • Evangelising Testing techniques and Quality approaches to help increase awareness and skills related to producing high-quality software
  • Coaching and mentoring other team members to apply testing and quality to their work
  • Interacting and communicating with the whole Engineering Team, Customer Success, and other parts of the business
  • Owning and managing the Defect process ensuring defects are correctly prioritised and fixed within agreed SLA’s

  • API testing using Postman or similar
  • UI Testing
  • Organising and applying User Acceptance Testing
  • Defect/Bug Management
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Estimating
  • Ability to speak passionately about quality and persuade others
  • Keen interest in technology and remaining up to date with latest developments/approaches
  • Desire to learn and seek out information
  • Self-motivated to seek out new knowledge, skills and experiences
  • Strong sense of independence and an initiative to take on tasks without the need for direction
