What You’ll Be Doing
Response is looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join their dedicated team at Scrutton Close & Newman Court! The team focuses on supporting clients within their own accommodation. Staff offer a high level of support, working closely with clients to achieve their personal goals and gain increased independence before taking the next step in their journey.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing person‑centred support to residents with serious mental illness, including adults who have a primary diagnosis of a psychotic illness often combined with physical health issues, neurodiversity, drug & alcohol use, and cognitive impairment. Support workers help residents achieve and sustain a rewarding life in the community, promote independence, well‑being, and self‑management of mental health. Staff are responsible for ensuring safety through housing management, risk assessment, and health & safety practice. They help maintain tenancies, look after homes, and develop daily living skills.
Some Of The Core Duties Include:
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and practical assistance to residents with daily living activities, including medication assistance.
- Engage residents with interests, education, community groups, employment, and life skills such as shopping, budgeting, public transport, meal preparation, and accommodation maintenance.
- Foster a supportive and empowering environment that promotes residents’ independence.
- Support and monitor clients’ physical and mental health, ensuring appropriate access to primary health services or liaison with mental health services.
- Support clients to attend appointments when required.
- Ensure daily paperwork is completed.
- Support the Service Manager to achieve monthly service targets.
- Comply with all health and safety measures to keep residents, visitors, colleagues, and yourself safe.
- Work with all residents using a trauma‑informed approach based on the six principles: Safety, Trust, Choice, Collaboration, Empowerment, and Cultural Consideration.
- Promote family, friend, and carer engagement, ensuring they are involved in the loved one’s support and receive information about the service.

Essential Criteria:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- A commitment to undertake continual personal development, including completing the Care Certificate.
- IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
- Good communication skills, written, verbal, and listening.
- Ability to provide non‑judgemental, emotional, and practical support to residents.
- A genuine interest in mental health and well‑being with a commitment to delivering Response’s mission.
