Job Summary:
- Develop and maintain test systems using National Instruments (NI) hardware and LabVIEW software / Test Stand in a production environment.
- Design, implement and liaise with equipment suppliers for automated test equipment (ATE) and test fixtures to support the manufacturing process of both low and high volume.
- A very strong understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production engineers, and quality assurance personnel, to identify test requirements and develop appropriate test strategies.
- Analyse test data to identify trends and areas for improvement in the manufacturing process and provide recommendations to optimize product quality and safety.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports, in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support to production staff in resolving testing issues and ensuring the smooth operation of test equipment.
- Experience of extracting, exporting and analysing test data, specifically with SQL and MySQL.
- Reverse engineer existing equipment to understand their functionality, identify areas for improvement and to optimize test process.
- Create detailed specifications for new equipment, prepare Capital Expenditure applications and liaise with respected suppliers.
- A 'hands-on' approach will be required at times for shopfloor support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience in a manufacturing test engineering role, preferably in the field of intrinsically safe products or other electronic devices.
- Strong proficiency in LabVIEW software, TestStand and NI products, including hardware platforms such as PXI, cRIO, and cDAQ.
- Experience in designing and implementing ATE and test fixtures for manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to intrinsically safe products and hazardous area certifications (e.g., ATEX, IECEx).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and present technical information.
