Our client, a well-established engineering organisation based in Hayes, Greater London, is seeking a Hydraulics Preparator to join their Hydraulics team. The successful candidate will support the preparation of hydraulic assemblies, components, pipes and hoses prior to inspection and further processing. This role involves ensuring all hydraulic components are correctly identified, cleaned to required standards, and supported with preliminary documentation in line with production schedules and operational priorities. This position also offers the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of production processes to maintain operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial identification of hydraulic assemblies, components, pipes and hoses, preparing them for disposition.
- Clean incoming hydraulic assemblies, components, pipes and hoses to company standards.
- Disassemble small components and carry out local paint removal following disassembly.
- Generate preliminary paperwork on SAP in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare and group hydraulic parts in line with company documentation, ensuring components are in suitable condition for inspection.
- Work closely with the disposition team to meet production deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Follow production priority lists issued by Production Control to meet output targets.
- Liaise with other production departments to support smooth operational flow.
- Support the development and implementation of process improvements and documentation updates.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental procedures, and company policies at all times.
- Maintain personal training and development records as required.
- Provide training support to colleagues where appropriate.
- Undertake any other duties as directed by management.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Active participation in LEAN process improvements.
- Achievement of departmental KPI targets.
- Accurate identification of hydraulic components using internal documentation and OEM technical references.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Previous experience within hydraulics or a mechanical/technical workshop environment is desirable.
- Experience within an aerospace engineering or similar regulated environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of hydraulic components preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with OEM technical manuals (such as those from Boeing) would be beneficial.
