CNC Grinder (Studer) – Late Shift (6PM–4AM, Monday to Thursday) – Hemel Hempstead.

Overtime available at enhanced rates.

Permanent position in the Aerospace sector.

Role Description

This full‑time, on‑site role involves setting and operating CNC grinding machines (Studer) to optimise machining processes for accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate, and manage CNC grinding equipment (Studer).
  • Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as required.
  • Perform in‑process quality checks to tight aerospace tolerances.
  • Interpret engineering drawings with precision.
  • Maintain safe working practices and adhere to production standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent, high‑quality output.
  • Support basic machine maintenance and care.
  • Ensure correct information is logged on tooling sheets, including updating amendments.
  • Recall saved programs and ensure any amendments are approved and correctly saved.
  • Ensure components submitted for first‑off inspection meet drawing requirements.
  • Pre‑set ready for the next job where practical.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Experience setting and operating Studer CNC grinders and manual machines.
  • Some understanding of mathematical concepts (e. g., trigonometry).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Commercial awareness and professionalism.
  • Good standard of general education with basic computer and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail with steady hand‑eye coordination.
  • Good organisational skills, methodical and accurate.
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances without supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and problem‑solve.
  • Demonstrates integrity in all aspects of the role.
  • Flexible approach to the role to meet changing business demands, including overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team.
