Location: Taunton, UK (3 days' travel per month)Positions: Contract (Outside IR35)Clearance: Active SC Clearance Mandatory Please ensure: CV is a maximum of 3 pages Font size: 11We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale Azure-based applications within a secure and highly regulated environment.

The Senior Software Developer will work closely with Lead Developers, Architects, Dev Ops Engineers, Testers, and Product Owners to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions while contributing to engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Build high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions using C# and modern . NET technologies.
  • Implement features and enhancements in accordance with functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Contribute to cloud-native solution development following established architectural patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews and implement feedback to maintain coding standards and best practices.
  • Utilize Git and Git Hub-based workflows for source code management.
  • Leverage Git Hub Copilot and AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Collaborate with Lead Developers, Architects, Product Owners, Testers, and Dev Ops Engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support development of automated unit tests.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across development, test, and production environments.
  • Maintain technical documentation within Share Point, Wiki, Git, or other approved repositories.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for continuous improvement of engineering practices and development processes.
  • Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with C# and modern . NET (. NET Framework / . NET Core / . NET).
  • Good experience developing applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Azure Paa S services such as: App Services Azure Functions Storage Accounts Service Bus Azure Key Vault
  • Experience implementing REST APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience working with Git Hub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools.
  • Good understanding of cloud-native application design principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
