Adept Resourcing is supporting a long-established engineering manufacturer in Sheffield in the recruitment of a skilled Patternmaker. This role involves producing high-quality patterns in wood, resin and similar materials, used in complex casting and manufacturing processes. Working from technical drawings, you'll manufacture precision pattern equipment ranging from small components through to large, intricate assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture precision pattern equipment from drawings, including full layout, sizing and construction.
- Produce patterns using materials such as wood, plywood, resin and polystyrene.
- Interpret engineering drawings accurately and set out measurements to required tolerances.
- Operate a range of woodworking and patternmaking equipment, including:
- Band saws
- Planers
- Cross-cut saws
- Thicknessers
- Dimension saws
Person Requirements
Essential
- Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent hands-on experience in patternmaking, woodworking, joinery or a related craft.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.
- Proven experience producing pattern equipment or similar items using wood, resin or polystyrene.
- Able to work independently as well as within a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a flexible attitude to work demands.
Desirable
- Experience in large-scale patternmaking or heavy engineering environments.
- Familiarity with modern manufacturing processes or CAD-related pattern development.
