Mechanical Engineer Manufacturing & Maintenance Location: West Midlands Salary: £40,000£50,000 DOE Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Were recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join an established manufacturer and stockholder of specialist stainless steel and nickel alloy products. This is a varied, hands-on position supporting the reliability, maintenance and continued improvement of machinery within a busy metals-processing environment. The Role: Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults Supporting the maintenance of production and material-handling equipment Responding quickly to breakdowns and minimising production downtime Completing routine inspections and preventative maintenance Identifying recurring faults and carrying out root-cause analysis Supporting machinery upgrades, installations and commissioning Developing practical engineering solutions to improve reliability and productivity Managing engineering spares and replacement components Working closely with production and operations teams Maintaining accurate maintenance and engineering records Ensuring all work complies with health and safety requirements Supporting contractors and external engineering providers when required About You: Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Fitter A background in manufacturing, metals processing, heavy engineering or industrial production Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, motors and drive systems The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings A relevant apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC, HND or engineering qualification A proactive and hands-on approach The ability to work independently and as part of a wider production team A strong commitment to safety and quality Experience with fabrication, welding, machining or basic electrical fault-finding would be advantageous.
