My client is looking to recruit a Switchgear Service Engineer to join their growing service team. This is a field-based role offering a mix of installation, commissioning, servicing, and fault finding across a wide range of customer sites, with opportunities to progress into a lead position.

Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working away from home Monday-Friday
  • Must be comfortable with potential offshore work
  • Must hold a valid UK driver license, and be comfortable driving vans

The Role

As a Switchgear Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering service-related work safely and efficiently across various projects. Duties include:

  • Installation and commissioning of switchgear equipment
  • Servicing, maintenance, and upgrade works
  • Fault finding, breakdown investigation, and repairs
  • Protection relay testing and upgrades
  • Supporting customers with technical queries and service advice
  • Completing risk assessments, method statements, and reports
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety on all sites

There is scope for experienced candidates to step into a Lead Switchgear Service Engineer position, supporting junior engineers and taking more responsibility on-site.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working as a Switchgear Service Engineer or within a similar electrical service role
  • Strong hands-on experience with switchgear, installation, and maintenance
  • Ability to work independently on-site and manage workload effectively
  • Comfortable working away from home Monday to Friday
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional offshore or overseas work
  • Full UK driving licence
