About the opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Nursery Manager to lead the Nursery within a thriving independent pre-prep school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong early years leader who wants to take the next step in a setting that offers the warmth and nurture of nursery life, combined with the structure, ambition and wider professional opportunities of a school environment.
Unlike a stand-alone private nursery, this role sits at the heart of a whole-school community. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Prep and wider school leadership team, contributing to children's early development while supporting their smooth transition through the school from Nursery into Reception and beyond.
Why this role is different
- A true school setting: Be part of an independent pre-prep school with shared values, high standards and a strong educational ethos.
- Wider professional support: Work alongside teachers, senior leaders and specialist staff, rather than leading in isolation.
- Clear educational progression: Help shape children's development from 6 months through to school readiness and beyond.
- Greater leadership influence: Play a key role in the strategic development of the Nursery as part of the wider Prep School.
- A joined-up community: Build meaningful relationships with families who may remain with the school through key entry points including 4+, 7+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ years old.
The setting
The Nursery welcomes children from 6 months and is arranged across four rooms: two baby rooms, one toddler room and one pre-school room. The Nursery Manager will be supported by two Deputy Managers and will lead a committed early years team to provide outstanding care, learning and development.
