Health & Safety Advisor in Southampton

An established construction contractor is looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor for a major student accommodation project in Southampton.

This is a primarily health & safety-focused role, but we are also very open to candidates from a strong site management background, including Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers, Foremen or General Foremen with excellent H&S knowledge.

We are looking for someone practical and hands-on someone who understands how construction sites operate, can maintain high safety standards, and help ensure the project runs smoothly day to day.

• Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on site
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety walks
• Identify and address unsafe acts or working practices
• Review RAMS, permits and safe systems of work
• Ensure compliance with HSE and company procedures
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings
• Investigate incidents / near misses and implement improvements
• Work closely with site teams and subcontractors to maintain safe, efficient operations

• Strong construction site experience
• Excellent practical H&S knowledge
• Confident managing and challenging subcontractors when required
• Good understanding of site logistics and daily operations
• Strong communication and organisational skills

• NEBOSH (preferred)
• SMSTS / SSSTS
• CSCS Card
• First Aid / IOSH beneficial

This role would suit an experienced H&S Advisor or a Site Manager / Foreman looking to move into a more safety-led position.
