Projects range from the sensitive restoration and refurbishment of period properties and prestigious country houses through to individually designed new-build homes for private clients.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction handover through to final account.
Working closely with the Contracts Managers, Site Managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, you will ensure projects are commercially controlled while maintaining the exceptional quality standards expected across the business.
You will manage budgets, procurement, valuations, variations, cash flow, forecasting and final accounts, while identifying and managing commercial risk throughout the project lifecycle.
The role will predominantly be based from the company's Wiltshire office, with travel to projects as required.
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Key Responsibilities
- Take commercial responsibility for high-end residential, heritage, restoration and bespoke new-build projects
- Manage projects commercially from pre-construction handover through to final account
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, costs and commercial reporting
- Identify, monitor and manage commercial and contractual risk
- Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering and negotiation
- Prepare and manage subcontractor valuations, payments, variations and final accounts
- Manage client applications, variations and commercial submissions
- Prepare and issue contractual notices where required
- Ensure compliance with JCT contracts and internal commercial procedures
- Work closely with Contracts Managers and Site Managers to monitor project performance
- Provide clear commercial guidance to operational project teams
- Develop value engineering and procurement strategies to improve commercial performance
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
- Support the Commercial Director with commercial strategy and resource planning
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within the team
Senior Quantity Surveyor – About You
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with the commercial capability to take ownership of projects and operate confidently with clients, consultants and project teams.
Experience within high-end residential, heritage, restoration or traditional construction would be particularly advantageous, although individuals from strong main contracting backgrounds delivering high-quality projects will also be considered.
You should have:
- Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Strong understanding of JCT contracts and commercial processes
- Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account
- Strong subcontractor procurement and negotiation experience
- Experience managing valuations, variations and contractual notices
- Excellent cost management, forecasting and reporting capabilities
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project risk
- Ability to commercially manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Confident client-facing and communication skills
- Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
- Full UK driving licence
