Job Description
Senior Hardware Engineer – High-Speed Board Design
Europe or Asia | Global Cyber-Security & Data Communication Specialist
100% remote based
Can be based in Europe or Asia
Excellent salary on offer – depending on Experience
Our client is a pioneering company at the forefront of cyber-security and data communications. They have developed a one-of-a-kind chip and software suite that enables ultra-secure Ethernet communication using cutting-edge artificial-intelligence techniques. You'll become part of a team that's redefining industrial networking, data centres and IoT gateway infrastructure, and your work will power next-generation secure systems globally.
In this role you will drive the physical hardware design behind our high-performance systems. From conceptualisation to production you'll architect rugged, industrial-grade PCBs, push the limits of high-speed interfaces and signal integrity, and partner cross-functionally to bring complex systems to life. If you're hungry for technical challenge, impact, and international teamwork, this is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of complex multi-layer PCBs (10+ layers) for industrial networking, gateway/router and data-centre applications.
- Define and implement board architecture aligned with high-speed interfaces: PCIe, Ethernet (1G/10G/25G+), DDR4/DDR5, USB 3.x, SerDes.
- Ensure industrial and rugged readiness: EMI/EMC compliance, thermal design, environmental standards, IPC/IPC-A-600 inspections.
- Schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as OrCAD, PADS (or equivalent) with focus on stack-up, power integrity and signal integrity.
- Collaborate closely with FPGA/ASIC teams, firmware/embedded engineers and mechanical designers to optimise overall system performance and manufacturability.
- Author and execute hardware bring-up, validation and test plans; drive prototype evaluation and final product readiness.
- Act as a mentor and technical guide within your team, contributing to best practices, design reviews, and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
Must-have experience:
- Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience in high-speed PCB hardware design for industrial networking, IPC, gateway/router or data-centre systems.
- Proven success designing complex multi-layer PCBs (10+ layers) with high-speed data interfaces.
- Strong expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC compliance and rugged board design.
- Practical hands-on experience with PCIe, DDR4/DDR5, Ethernet (10G/25G/100G), USB 3.x and SerDes interface design.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional international team (hardware, firmware, mechanical) and drive projects end-to-end.
Nice-to-have experience:
- Experience with FPGA-based board design or embedded systems.
- Familiarity with industrial standards such as EN55032/35, EN61000-6-4, EN50155, IEC or MIL-STD-810 for ruggedised applications.
- Previous involvement in IoT gateway or router interfaces.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to design governance.
It would be amazing if you are the following:
- Technically curious and able to dive into the nitty-gritty of high-speed signal design while also zooming out to systems-level impact.
- Confident in making decisions with clarity, taking ownership of hardware design outcomes.
- Effective at communication, able to articulate hardware choices, trade-offs and risks to stakeholders.
- Motivated by challenge, seeking to push the boundary of what's possible in secure, high-speed networking systems.
What we offer
- A unique opportunity to join a company driving truly novel technology (chip + software IP + AI for secure Ethernet).
- Global exposure: collaborate with teams across multiple regions, influence product strategy, and deliver systems used worldwide.
- Career growth: take on a senior technical leadership role, expand your hardware design footprint, build next-generation products.
- Competitive compensation and benefits (specifics will be discussed) and a flexible working environment (Europe or Asia base).
- A culture of innovation: you'll join a team that values excellence, creativity and collaboration to solve challenging engineering problems.
