We are delighted to be supporting a successful independent Scottish Law Firm with the recruitment of a Senior Tax Advisor to join their leading Private Client team.

The firm provides a comprehensive range of specialist advisory services across private client, land and rural business, renewable energy and commercial real estate sectors, operating from offices across Scotland.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Advisor to provide tax and succession advice across a broad range of private client matters. The role will suit a technically strong advisor who is confident advising on personal tax, succession planning, trusts and executries, with the support of partners and senior colleagues where required.

  • Provide specialist tax and succession planning advice to a wide range of private clients, including landed estates, rural businesses, trusts, executries and high-net-worth families.
  • Advise on personal tax, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Income Tax, trusts and executry taxation.
  • Support clients with succession planning matters, including advice relating to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief.
  • Advise on the tax aspects of land transactions and heritable property matters.
  • Work closely with partners and senior colleagues to deliver high-quality technical advice and excellent client service.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, communicating complex tax matters clearly and commercially.
  • Contribute to business development activity, internal training and cross-service line referral opportunities.

At least five years practical tax advisory experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax, succession planning, trust and executry taxation.
  • Experience advising on Inheritance Tax, including Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief, Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax.
  • Understanding of tax compliance procedures.
  • Experience advising on tax aspects of land transactions and heritable property.
  • Applications from solicitors with relevant tax experience will also be considered.
