A leading and long-established civil engineering and residential groundwork contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its growing commercial team based near to Verwood, East Dorset. With over 25 years of industry success, the company has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality civil engineering and residential infrastructure projects across the South. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business with a strong pipeline of residential developments and a genuine focus on investing in its people.

The Role: Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager / Director, you will be responsible for the surveying and estimating of residential groundworks and civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for all commercial, surveying, and estimating queries
  • Assisting with the preparation, submission, and agreement of tenders and contract submissions
  • Preparing project forecasts and cost plans
  • Managing and pricing variations, claims, and design changes
  • Ensuring contractual compliance across projects
  • Producing accurate commercial reports demonstrating project profitability and progress
  • Working collaboratively with procurement and site management teams
  • Ensuring all procedures and deadlines are met

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years experience within UK residential groundworks / civil engineering projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience using Bluebeam or similar construction software
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced commercial environment
