You could come from field service, electronics, installation, maintenance, manufacturing, automotive, marine, defence or a technical role in the Armed Forces.
If you have practical technical experience and want to apply it in a new sector, this could be a great next step.
Im supporting a growing Southampton-based technology business looking for a Field Service Engineer.
A practical technical foundation is important, but communication, teamwork, adaptability and the ability to learn matter more than experience with a particular product or industry.
Training on the companys technology will be provided. Previous experience in water quality monitoring or sensor systems isnt required.

The role
The business develops specialist sensor systems for water quality and environmental monitoring.
With training and support, youll install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair this equipment at customer sites.
Youll work closely with customers and the internal technical team, combining hands-on engineering with relationship building and practical problem-solving.
Location and travel
Youll split your time between the Southampton base, customer sites and some home working, depending on the work required.
- UK site visits: typically 13 days per week.
- International travel: typically no more than once per month, usually with around at least one weeks notice.
- Overnight stays: approximately twice per month.
Travel expectations are discussed upfront and reviewed regularly, with individual needs considered where possible.
