Our client cares for children and young people who present complex needs, learning disabilities and who require emotional and behavioural support. The philosophy of care within their children\’s services reflects on a deeply held belief that children have the right to be cared for in a stable, secure, and nurturing environment. They provide a positive living experience for every child in placement, with child-centred care and trauma informed. Their staff team demonstrate a solution-focused model of working, placing the child at the centre of the care they will receive. Empowering children to take control of their lives and make decisions that will improve their outcomes and future.

They are now looking for an Ofsted Registered Manager for a brand-new children\’s residential home in St Helens. As their Ofsted Registered Manager, you\’ll lead a team including a Deputy Manager and several carers to ensure the very best in house living experience for all children.

Ofsted Registered Manager – Responsibilities

– Lead and manage the service consistent with the approach and ethos of the organisation, delivering outcomes and outstanding care, as set out in the statement of purpose.

– Manage the daily operations of the service, whilst ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to children and young people.

– Oversee a myriad of safeguarding practices and ensure a robust safeguarding culture.

– Cultivating a dynamic and supportive team environment through inspirational leadership.

– Foster a positive team culture that prioritises the needs, well-being and outcomes, of all children.

– Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and training to support staff, whilst being a fierce advocate of continued professional development.

– Fostering strong and meaningful relationships with children, staff members, and external stakeholders.

– Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Ofsted standards, the Children\’s Homes Regulations, and all other relevant legislation.

Ofsted Registered Manager – Required Skills

– Level 5 Diploma in Children and Young People – Residential Childcare.

– Minimum of 2 years\’ experience managing a children\’s residential setting.

– Proven track record of effective leadership skills, encompassing the ability to motivate and inspire, those around them.

– In-depth and robust, understanding of regulatory and legal requirements of Ofsted Registered provisions, and underpinning child and social care legislation.

– Champion children\’s rights and a fierce advocate of improving the lives of looked after children.

– Valid UK Driver\’s License and access to own vehicle.

– Substantial experience of the Ofsted inspection process; and of obtaining β€œGood”, or β€œOutstanding” accreditations at key inspections.

– Experience of working with complex children who encompass learning disabilities.

– Previous experience of working within therapeutic care frameworks/models and trauma informed practice is desired.

– Knowledge of children who have Deprivation of Liberty orders, and an understanding of the processes underpinning such orders would be desirable.
