Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Welding & Fabrication Focus

Salary: £18.00£23.00 per hour DOE
Hours: MondayFriday, 8:00am6:00pm

Are you a Maintenance Engineer who is as comfortable with a welder as you are with a spanner?

We're looking for a practical, hands-on Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join an established business operating within the agricultural production sector.

This is a varied engineering role with a strong focus on welding and fabrication. You'll spend around half your time in the workshop, fabricating, modifying and repairing components, and the other half working within production on machinery installation, breakdowns and maintenance.

If you enjoy making things, fixing things and finding practical solutions, this could be an excellent opportunity.

The Role

Your time will be split approximately:

30% Welding, fabrication and modification

30% Breakdown maintenance and fault finding

30% New machinery installation and commissioning

10% Planned/preventative maintenance

You'll work approximately 50% in the workshop and 50% within the production environment.

Welding & Fabrication

A significant part of the role will involve fabricating and modifying components and equipment, so we're particularly interested in engineers with good practical welding and fabrication skills.

You'll be working with:

MIG welding equipment

Drills

Lathes

Guillotines

General workshop machinery

Cutting and fabrication equipment

Hand and power tools

You'll then use the components you've fabricated when carrying out installation, modification and maintenance work within production.

What You'll Be Working On

The business operates a range of agricultural and production machinery, so you'll encounter equipment including:

Conveyors

Elevators

Augers

Mechanical handling equipment

Production machinery

General industrial plant

One minute you could be responding to a machinery breakdown, the next fabricating a replacement component in the workshop before installing it back into production.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a genuine hands-on engineering background who enjoys solving problems and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

Ideally, you'll have experience in:

MIG welding important

Fabrication and metalwork

Mechanical fault finding and repair

Machinery installation and commissioning

Preventative maintenance

Component modification

General workshop machinery

Working safely around production equipment

TIG or other welding experience would be an advantage but isn't essential.

Experience within agriculture, manufacturing, food production, engineering or a similar industrial environment would be particularly useful.

The Person

This isn't a role for someone who wants to simply complete a maintenance checklist and wait for the next job.

We're looking for a practical problem solver who enjoys variety and takes pride in finding a solution.

You'll ideally be:

Mechanically minded and technically capable

A confident MIG welder/fabricator

Strong at fault finding and problem solving

Comfortable working independently

Confident using workshop machinery

Able to fabricate, modify and repair equipment

Practical and resourceful

Happy working in a workshop and production environment

A genuine \"can-do\" person

Comfortable getting their hands dirty

Adaptable and willing to tackle different challenges
