Our client is a family run business, with an amazing product and a customer centric approach. They have stores in the UK and a rapidly growing online, International and concessions business. They really care about people, customers, and the communities in which they trade and are now looking for an Assistant Trade Planner. The role will be hybrid, with three days per week based out of their Amersham Head office, and two days per week working from home.
The Assistant Trade Planner will support the Trade Planning team by coordinating data-led, customer-relevant promotional and trading plans across channels. You use sales and market insight to maintain planning accuracy and discipline, turning data into clear insight and ensuring plans are delivered on time and in full in line with commercial objectives. You are commercially minded, highly organised, and methodical, with strong analytical capability and close attention to detail. As Assistant Trade Planner you will manage multiple workstreams and critical paths with confidence, communicate clearly and proactively with stakeholders across Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations.
Responsibilities- Support the development and delivery of promotional and event plans using sales data, historical performance and competitor insight.
- Maintain and manage event calendars, ensuring accuracy, alignment and clear communication across stakeholders.
- Support critical path management to ensure promotions are executed accurately in store and across relevant channels.
- Track and analyse key performance metrics, including promotional uplift, event performance and trading trends.
- Produce regular reporting and ad-hoc analysis to highlight risks, opportunities and variances to plan.
- Identify emerging trends in promotions, pricing and events, escalating risks or issues where appropriate.
- Review competitor activity to inform planning decisions and trading recommendations.
- Assist with space optimisation activity across channels, ensuring plans are commercially and operationally viable.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders, providing timely updates and insight.
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar Trade Planning role within retail, FMCG or a multi-channel trading environment.
- Degree educated (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject (e.g., Business, Marketing, Economics, Maths or similar).
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret sales, promotional and market data to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
- Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, pivot tables and data manipulation) and confidence working with large data sets.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence, challenge appropriately and coordinate actions across teams.
- Broader commercial retail experience, with a good understanding of how functions such as Buying, Merchandising and Marketing work together to deliver a trading plan.
- Experience using planning, reporting or project tools to manage calendars, critical paths and sign-off processes.
- Exposure to multi-channel retail environments (store and digital).
