You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, helping to deliver high standards of care, learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. The role is full time, working between 8am and 6pm across 4-5 days per week.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the nursery, supporting staff, children and families while ensuring the setting remains safe, nurturing, stimulating and well organised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day organisation and effective running of the nursery.
  • Deputise for the Nursery Manager when required, providing confident and professional leadership.
  • Lead, motivate and support practitioners to deliver high-quality care and education.
  • Help plan, implement and monitor engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS.
  • Promote children's wellbeing, safety, independence and individual development.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and staff across the wider school community.
  • Support safeguarding, health and safety, policies, procedures and good practice across the setting.
  • Contribute to staff development, mentoring, team communication and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or equivalent is essential.
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Nursery Manager, Room Leader or senior early years practitioner.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development.
  • Confident leadership skills with the ability to support and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
  • A warm, professional and child-centred approach.
  • Commitment to providing the highest standards of care and education.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package.
  • 33 days' holiday, including bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme and additional staff benefits.
  • Full training and ongoing professional development.
  • Supportive leadership within an independent school environment.
  • The opportunity to be valued as an individual in a small nursery, rather than feeling like just a number.

If you are passionate about early years education and ready to take the next step in your childcare career, we would love to hear from you.
